Last week we covered the #1 element of your social media strategy: who are your readers? Today, I’ll talk about the #2 element:
what?

What are you selling? You might think you’re selling a book on retirement planning, but aren’t you really selling the dream of retirement? A book on quilting or making quilting easier? Solving addiction or the benefit of a stable relationship with your loved one? Flesh out the features vs. benefits of your products and services, and emphasize the benefits to your readers. For everything you sell, think in terms of the reader saying “what’s in it for me? How will this book improve my life?”
What do you want your readers to do after you reach them via social media? Buy your product, visit your store, or subscribe to your newsletter? Did you make it easy to do with links and easy instructions?
Make sure you define what you are selling and your goal after reaching your readers via social media, then make sure you made it easy for them to do just that.

An old advertising adage: “sell the sizzle, not the steak.”
What you say sounds interesting – where do we go from here?
Richard, you are so right in “sell the sizzle, not the steak.” That’s all about WHAT you are selling. Glad you found the information helpful. Where do you go from here? Several options:
1. Follow along here at AtlasBooks blog to get the rest of the story. This is a series of 6 posts that I have tailored for AtlasBooks, because I’m a customer too! I originally posted this series over on my own blog which you can read here
2. You can subscribe to my newsletter, contact me for help in setting up a social media strategy, or take one of my online classes.
Wishing you much luck with your book!
